We went to visit Myanmar for a day.  Once we figured out the 30 minute time change we were good to go.  Lucky we had a guide who showed us this ACTUAL piece of Buddha.  It was very impressive, surrounded by LED lights and so tiny.  We also got to check out this amazing pagoda on the back of a crocodile.

White water on Pai River

We spent 2 days on the Pai River. Fun was had on Class 3 and 4 rapids. The guides were funny and we got to spend one night a Jungle Camp. There the wise “The Boy” challenged us with puzzles. We could only solve two of them. No one from the Maurer’s got knocked off although the boat did almost flip once. The hot springs and rock slide along the way were added surprises.

Back to school!

We spent a day riding bikes at the Sukhothai ruins. The cab driver from the train station took us to the wrong hotel, out in the middle of nowhere. We were beginning to think it was not worth the extra travel to get here. Once we were at the ruins we changed our minds. Very few tourists had come to visit the park. Groups of school kids were practicing their English. A fun part of the day was sitting with an old woman under a tree and having a Coke. Seeing Khmer ruins in a place like this was amazing.
